Life’s Like a Movie, Write Your Own Ending…
I have a very short list of people I would love to meet in this life. The list was formed when I was around 10 years old, and it has never ever changed.
1. Mr. Rogers
2. Jim Henson
3. Carol Burnett
For some reason, I was in a Muppet-y mood today and I was thinking a lot about #2 on that list. I’ve always had a love for everything related to Jim Henson and those fuzzy creatures he created. (My personal favorites are Fozzie Bear and Rowlf the Dog.)
I remembered reading something that Richard Curtis said when he was making the film Love Actually. There is a scene at the beginning where people pop up from a wedding audience, with musical instruments, to play for the bride and groom. Curtis said that scene was inspired from something he experienced at Jim Henson’s funeral.
I took to the web to do a little searching, and through the power of Youtube, some moments of the memorial are actually available. Most especially, the moment that inspired Richard Curtis is available to inspire us all. There is no real point to this post, other than the desire to share a lovely twinkling in time, honoring a lovely man.
As for my list…yes, some of the people on it may have passed, but luckily, this list never expires. I’ll just carry it with me whenever it’s my time to move along.

This is wonderful. I love lists like this.
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on The Labyrinth?
Thanks! It’s been several years since I have seen it, but I loved Labyrinth, especially the Hoggle character. My brother and I watched it many times…to this day when I see a baby in striped footies, I think of David Bowie singing “dance baby, dance baby, dance baby, dance”.
How about you?
Love it. Can you imagine the days when David Bowie as goblin king was considered a heartthrob?
I love Jim Henson, but actually my favorite might be Muppet Treasure Island. Good memories there
I have an aunt who thought the Goblin King was pretty hot…so funny.
My favorite is probably Muppets Take Manhattan…I actually tear up when Kermit and Piggy have the wedding in that one
