Something Pete This Way Comes…
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with The Adventures of Pete and Pete. It felt like one of those secret shows that only the cool kids knew about. If you liked the Pete’s, you were just a little more “in the know” than everyone else. The stories skirted reality, the guest stars were otherworldly (I mean, Michael Stipe and Steve Buscemi…come on!!!) Among the fantastic cast of characters, there was Little Pete, a kid who had some major tattoos; Mr. Tastee, a man with a giant swirled ice cream head; and through it all, there was Big Pete, the voice of reason…and I’ll say it, someone I crushed pretty hard on.
I actually hadn’t thought of Pete and Pete for a while, but suddenly, within the span of a week, Pete has been brought to the forefront of my attention…First in the form of a Funny or Die sketch, and second with an appearance on The Chris Gethard Show (another one of those people-in-the-know type of shows).
I leave you now with one of my favorite quotes:
“C’mon Pete, we gotta kill Bill while he’s still alive”.
And with that, I’m off to drink an orange lazarus.
